Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager 

SCOPE:

  • The FSQA Manager - is responsible for the coordination, execution, and implementation of key food safety, quality, and regulatory programs.
  • This position exists to ensure the quality and food safety of all products being produced. The position is responsible for managing the HACCP/HARPC/Prerequisite/Quality Program functions Corporate-wide in collaboration with the Sr. FSQA Manager to provide safe, high-quality products that meet customer and consumer expectations.
  • This role has the overall accountability of ensuring the food safety system is properly written, validated, documented, and implemented as directed to ensure USDA and FDA regulatory compliance and the production of safe, legal, quality products. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports in the authoring of all Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory (FSQR) programs and facilitates their implementation company-wide.
  • Oversees the Day-to-Day operations of the FSQA department across all shifts.
  • Coordinates the FSQA Supervisors and FSQA leads on department priorities.
  • Verifies that all Food Safety and Regulatory programs are functioning as designed, being followed and correctly documented.
  • Support validation efforts for extended production runs – risk assessment, data gathering, data trending, data-based corrective actions – leading to improved efficiency, sanitation, quality, and food safety.
  • Guides compliance with corporate food safety requirements. This includes SOPs, SSOPs, formulas, government compliance procedures (FSMA), Recall procedures, HACCP, Preventive Controls (FSMA), CN Labeling, FPCP and similar type programs.
  • Collaborates with customers and sales staff to resolve questions regarding product quality and safety.
  • Expediently resolves and assists in solving customer complaints in the best interest of both the company and the customers. 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in food technology, chemistry, microbiology, or biology with 3-5 years' experience preferred.
  • Certified Preventative Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) preferred. Certifications, such as BRC Lead Auditor are highly desired.
  • Must be able to obtain HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) trainer certification.
  • Knowledge and experience with GFSI / HACCP / SPC
  • 2 or more years managing FDA & USDA regulatory compliance preferred.
  • At least 5 years' experience auditing quality and food safety programs in the food industry, with working knowledge of microbiology, is required. 

This is a direct hire position with a maximum targeted starting wage of up to $130,000, based on experience and interview process!
