Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Supervisor from a job shop manufacturing facility here in the Dayton area.  This is a 3rd shift position with scheduled hours 11pm – 7am.  Prior experience in machining, welding and/or assembly preferred. 

Responsibilities and Accountabilities: 

  • Supervises, plans and coordinates production for assigned area to include direct and indirect employees. Typically supervises more than 15 employees, multiple departments and possess considerable experience related to the area of responsibility.
  • Ensures that labor is utilized in the most efficient and effective manner.
  • Develops training programs as required to improve employee skills.
  • Actively pursues and suggests operational improvements to enhance quality, improve production, throughput and cost reduction.
  • Lead, mentor change and motivate workers to provide and instill a positive work environment.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems. Interpret specifications, blue prints and work orders in order to assign the appropriate duties to subordinate staff.
  • Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training and development. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy.
  • Responsible for performance monitoring and evaluation in addition to compensation administration for subordinate employees.
  • Maintains production and attendance records. 

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Three (3) years experience in a heavy manufacturing shop environment preferably in a process-oriented shop and/or related industry. Prior supervisory experience required.
  • Experience with MS Office required, SAP experience preferred.
  • Proven leadership demonstration to effectively orchestrate human resources and training functions.
  • Strong conflict management and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills in order to prioritize and plan work activities efficiently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be adaptable to changes in the work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
